About DiagramDesk

A diagram editor that opens instantly, asks for nothing, and keeps what you draw on your own machine.

Why it exists

Drawing a flowchart is a five-minute job. Getting to a canvas where you can draw one often is not: there is a sign-up, a trial, a limit on how many documents you may keep, and a watermark on the way out.

DiagramDesk removes that. Pick a template or a blank canvas and you are drawing. There is no account because there is nothing to log in to, and no cap on how many diagrams you keep: they are stored in your own browser rather than on someone's server, so its storage is the only limit.

The trade-off, stated plainly

Keeping everything on your device is the reason there is no sign-up, and it is also the reason there is no syncing between your laptop and your phone, and no real-time collaboration. Those features need a server holding your work and an account to attach it to, and both of those are exactly what this site is built without.

If you need a diagram somewhere else, export it. PNG, SVG, PDF, or the editor's own file which you can open again here later.

How it is paid for

Nothing yet. The intention is adverts on the pages around the editor. The editor page loads no advertising script, so nothing watches you while you work. There is no paid tier, nothing is held back, and there is no plan to add either.

What is in it

  • 55 shapes: the standard flowchart symbols, basic geometry, containers, and technical shapes for UML, ER and network diagrams.
  • 21 worked templates, one for each kind of diagram, that open ready to edit.
  • Connectors that route themselves, snap to shapes, and follow when you move things.
  • Export to PNG, SVG, PDF, and a file format you can reopen.
  • As many saved diagrams as your browser will hold.
  • Share links that carry the diagram inside them, with nothing uploaded, and code to embed one in a web page.
  • Import of Mermaid code, and of an org chart from an indented list or a CSV, laid out for you.
  • An offline copy of the editor if you ask for one, and installing it as an app where your browser allows.
