Privacy

The short version

DiagramDesk has no accounts and no database of users. The diagrams you draw are saved in your own browser and are never sent to us or to anyone else. We cannot see them, recover them, or hand them to a third party, because we never receive them. If you make a share link, the diagram travels inside the link itself, and the link goes wherever you send it.

The only information that reaches us at all is aggregate website statistics with no identifier attached, and whatever you choose to put in an email if you write to us.

No advertising script is loaded and no advert is shown.

Who is responsible

This site is operated by Inyonitech Solutions (Pty) Ltd, a company registered in South Africa. The company is the responsible party under the Protection of Personal Information Act, and the controller under the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulation where those apply. Our Information Officer is registered with the Information Regulator and can be reached at hello@diagramdesk.com.

What we do not collect

• No accounts, sign-ups, usernames or passwords. There is nothing to register for.
• No diagrams. Nothing you draw is uploaded, at any point, for any reason.
• No contact forms. The only way to reach us is by email, which you choose to send.
• No newsletter, no mailing list, no marketing.
• No session recording, heat maps or behavioural profiling.
• No logging of your activity on our own servers. The site is static files.

What is stored on your device

The editor keeps your work in your browser's local storage so it is still there when you come back. This is storage on your own computer, not on a server. The cookies and storage page lists every key, what it holds and how to remove it.

If you ask for it, your browser also keeps an offline copy of the editor's own files, through a service worker and its cache, so the editor works without a connection. Nothing is kept until you switch on Keep an offline copy, in the editor or on the start page, or install DiagramDesk as an app in a browser that tells the page it was installed; Remove the offline copy deletes it again. It holds no diagram and nothing about you, it never handles requests to anyone else, and the cookies and storage page lists it too.

The editor, the start page and the page that opens shared links are served from an address of their own, app.diagramdesk.com. Browsers keep each address's storage apart, and no advertising or analytics script runs at that address, so nothing but the editor's own code can read the diagrams kept there.

Clearing your browser's site data for this site deletes all of it permanently. We hold no copy, so there is nothing for us to delete and nothing for us to restore.

Share links

A share link carries the whole diagram inside the address, in the part after the # sign, which browsers do not send to any server: making a link or opening one uploads nothing to us, and we keep no copy, but the link itself goes wherever you send it, and anyone who has it can see the diagram and open a copy of it. The page that opens shared links loads no advertising and no statistics script, whatever the rest of the site does.

Who serves the pages

The site is static files, served by Cloudflare. Like any host, it sees the IP address, the browser's user agent and the time of each request, because it cannot deliver a page without them. Those logs belong to the host and are kept under its own policy; we do not read them, download them or keep a copy.

Website statistics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It is cookieless, sets no identifier on your device, and does not follow you to other sites. It reports totals such as how many people viewed a page and which country they were in. It does not tell us who you are and we cannot connect a visit to a person.

No Google Analytics, no tag manager, and no social media pixel is used anywhere on this site.

Advertising

There is no advertising on this site. No advertising script is loaded on any page and nothing is requested from an ad network. The intention is to fund the site with Google AdSense; no application has been made, and this page will describe exactly what Google does before a single advert appears.

Email

If you email hello@diagramdesk.com, we receive your address and whatever you write. We use it to answer you and nothing else. Correspondence is kept for up to 24 months and then deleted, unless we need to keep it longer for a legal claim. We never add your address to a mailing list and never pass it on.

Children

This site is not aimed at children and collects nothing from anyone, so it holds no children's personal information. Teachers and parents are welcome to use it; nothing a child draws leaves their device.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal information about visitors, there is normally nothing to access, correct or delete. If you have emailed us, you may ask for a copy of that correspondence or ask us to delete it, and we will do so. Under POPIA and the GDPR you also have the right to object to processing and to complain to a regulator.

Complaints

Please write to us first at hello@diagramdesk.com. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa. If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, you may instead complain to your own national supervisory authority, or to the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK.

Changes

If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. We do not make changes retroactively, and there is no stored data for a change to affect.

Governing law

This page is governed by the law of South Africa. If you are a consumer elsewhere, this does not remove the protections your own local law gives you.
